May Duke Dwight, Guardian Angel of the Interstate Highway System, and
HRH Howard, Blessed Overseer of the Commercial Airways,
Watch over and protect all Those Who must avail themselves of these Respectable Services during this Holiday Season. (Xmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzi, Bachalania, Melancholia, etc.)
May those those Humble Hermits who, at this Festive Time, choose to Hunker Down at Home, Alone or with Others, to Celebrate in Their Own Way, ie., Eat Pizza, Drink Beer and Watch Classic Movies in Black and White on TV, be
Favored by the Good Grace of Saint Ebeneezer and, interestingly, also, by
HRH Saint Howard, Who, according to Revered Legend, was said to have Hunkered Down Mightily himself during His Later years. Alone, Misunderstood and Maligned, he was, possibly, According to Another Legend, Martyred by an Unenlighteded, Wacko member of Similarly Unenlighteded Mankind.
On the Other Hand, perhaps not, these Legends, Saints, HRHs and Dukes are all a matter of conjecture anyway.

No More Presents
I'm changing my vote. I realize that it's most likely too late, because everyone probably has done what everyone plans to do; so, I guess this message will serve only either to confuse things or to make some one feel bad or annoyed. Fine, then my Christmas role will have been played, and I can relax the rest of the holiday.
I don't think each person should buy a gift. Screw this whole gift thing. Gock's Thing shouldn't be spending her money (or her father's or mother's money) for frickin' presents. Bringing one gift--even a $10.00 one--might be difficult for some persons (for example, the hillbillies in Atlanta would need to bring six gifts, not to mention the last minute running around), and that's just getting out of hand. Let's play Yankee Swap with the little pieces of crap Koala and Pert have already got--and there are plenty of pieces of crap lying around the trailer (making, by the way, any trip to the dollar store they might have already made hardly necessary and a big waste of time). Hell, let's just shop for presents at Koala's and Pert's: it's a treasure trove of Yankee Swap items.
Sorry not to have thought this through more thoroughly before I put in my two cents earlier, and sorry I brought up the topic at all. I'm an idiot (but I don't need to tell you that, do I?)

Retention of Ranch Recommended
In a surprise move today, P averred that selling and moving away from the ranch was not mandatory. Clapping, k concurred, crying, "Now I can paint the kitchen red!" Jollity, frivolity, conviviality, and all the other ialities reigned.
Thus:
'Every Who in Whoville, the tall and the small,
Was singing, without any presents at all!!'
Or:
' Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!'

Ya'll Go in There: They're Opening Presents!
So, what's the plan? JoJo and I intend to bring Christmas gifts for the little cracker chillrin. Will Agatha's Things be in attendance? We don't want anybody, including K&P, buying us stuff. Really. We just want your company, nothing else, except maybe your company a little funnier and more entertaining than the last time we saw you. If we bring gifts for the adults, will it be okay? If we don't bring gifts for the adults, will it be okay? Is there a custom that you all have developed? We'll be in Morganton very late Friday, the 23rd--really very early Saturday, the 24th (2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m, depending on weather and flight delays) and be leaving early Monday, the 26th, probably 7:00 a.m. at the latest.

There are victims of Katrina, and there are victims of Katrina
"The Saints (3-8) returned to East Rutherford, having played their 'home' opener here against the New York Giants after Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area and ruined the Superdome. The Saints lost 27-10, and receiver Joe Horn later said the NFL was making a 'mockery' of the team."
Excuse me while I cry a river for them. When will the suffering of this noble NFL franchise and its players and coaches end? Can't the citizens of New Orleans see that the Saints are the real victims here? Won't somebody please think of the football players?

I got porked on Thanksgiving
Just a few of the many things that I'm thankful for after this weekend:
- Pert and koALa's continued love and hospitality every time their compound is overrun by crumb-snatching little bastards. We love you and appreciate everything you do.
- Gock's pork roast idea and recipe. That was just the thing to give this Thanksgiving a distinction that will keep it remembered as something other than "just another holiday".
- The visit from KT1 and KT3. I must admit that my first instinct is "Oh, shit. Now I have to bring up my energy, be friendly, entertaining, and charming." (Not that I succeed on any count) However, I end up being incredibly glad that they visit, and wish they didn't have to leave. They're funny, loving, and tremendously entertaining.
- That GT1 is taking dance actively again. It's wonderful to see her light up about something that she loves. Kudo's (improper apostrophe acknowledged) to Gock for managing to make it happen.
- Agatha's influence on the team: My better half brings a...something...to the procedings that puts just enough sugar to the recipe to keep the whole weekend sweet. Thanks, Baby.
- A Sunday morning conversation with O Mr Leonard. It's good to hear his voice, and good to see the way the 'rents get all excited when he calls. The bastard.
- Mostly, it's the fact that I can spend a three or four day weekend with my family, and end it genuinely excited about the holiday next month.

2752?
Anyone want to throw out a date we can use for the over/under on when the American Troop deaths in Iraq (as if they're the only ones that matter) outstrip those on 9/11? Current course and speed looks like mid to late next year.
Indiana Unclaimed Property
I rarely watch the local news, but I did last night, and they mentioned that the state has a huge amount of unclaimed money.

A few Sunday afternoon news items
Meet some incredibly self-centered parents:
Chicago cafe wages war on brats
What an oaf. The look on his face is priceless.
Bush attempt to retreat impeded by supply closet
Is nobody shocked by the level of blatent dishonesty from these people any longer?
Rummy: What? Nobody asked me what I thought!

Silent but deadly?
It's quiet out here. Too quiet. And I've got too much time on my hands today. Here's a list of silent killers I found on the web, along with the source of the information. Good luck trying to sleep at night, knowing that all of these crafty bastards are lurking about, waiting to suck the life out of you and your loved ones:

Big K Inspired By New Sleep Plan
Big K Inspired By New Sleep Plan
For the November and December Family Gatherings.
Daybed to gazebo. Trundle bed to gazebo. One futon couch to gazebo--if it fits. Tarps around edges. Electric blankets for each bed. Fire in stove. Enter now to win a chance to sleep out there--Big K is a given 'cause it was her idea, and like Henny Penny, she will do the work. (Is it Henny Penny?) Eva T2 and Gock T and Eva T1 are first in line.
Gotta go spackle and paint now.
